Thomas’ Supports, Inc.

             Thomas’ Supports, Inc. was organized by five friends of Thomas along with his legal guardian.  These people, who have known Thomas throughout his life, are the most knowledgeable about what he needs in order to thrive and prosper.  These individuals meet at least monthly to review Thomas’ care and assure that his needs and interests are being carried out with the greatest degree of quality possible.

Quality = Communication

            As an individual who is deaf and blind, Thomas depends entirely on the use of manual sign language to express his most basic needs and desires.  As such, Thomas’ Supports, Inc. is committed to carrying out Thomas’ care with the greatest priority being the employment of direct support professionals who are fluent in the use of sign language and have training and experience in working with individuals who are deaf and blind.  In this effort, Thomas’ Supports, Inc. has partners the Helen Keller School in New York as well the Tennessee Division of Rehabilitative Services.

Quality = Companionship

            Thomas’ Supports, provides both residential and day supports to Thomas.  Residential supports utilize a combination of shift staff along with two live-in companions whose primary purpose is to care for Thomas and oversee his day to day       activities.  Day supports utilize an individual trained to help Thomas explore vocational as well as volunteer activities in the community.  Thomas is with a trained direct support professional at all times.
