Dreams Come True, Inc.
Robbie was living in Johnson City for three years, under Dawn of Hope. We heard about the Microboards. We did some research and then found out about Ruthie Beckwith. Ruthie is the Director of the Tennessee Microboard Association. We did Robby’s PATH (Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope). The PATH was wonderful in forcing us to think in a very visual way about Robby’s future.
Immediately after the PATH we paid our $100 fee for our incorporation application. We wanted to get started at the first of the year, but it was a little delayed so we started April 1, April fool’s Day.
“We wanted to get Robbie away from the abuse. We wanted him to have more freedom, more responsibility, and get him away from all the agency dysfunctions,” said Robbie’s mother. “
Robbie has a much better life now. He was employed for 3 years at one job. He is now looking for another job. He has his own apartment.
“Having a Microboard has been hard work. But it has been worth every bit of it. Robbie’s life is much better now,” his mother gratefully added.” It has been worth every dime, every tear, every heartache, for Robbie to have his freedom. I fight for my son. I will always fight for my son. He’s going to get what he deserves!”
Robbie and his Microboard are looking for a home for Robbie. He is also looking for employment. He may be able to even start his own business soon.
