The Tennessee Microboards Association was formed to provide support and training to individual microboards across the state.  The Association is committed to the development of high quality comprehensive services and supports to children and adults with disabilities in a manner that fosters self-determination and inclusion.  The vision of the Association is to lay the foundation needed to support the coming together of individuals with disabilities and their families with select members of the communities.  Together, these individuals will form a collection of non-profit organizations called Microboards whose sole mission is to procure and oversee supports and services to one person with a disability.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the creation of microboards for individuals with disabilities in keeping with the principles of self-determination, freedom, authority, and responsibility.

Who We Are

Creating a microboard for an individual with a disability is an on-going effort.  It takes leadership, commitment, collaboration, and perseverance.  Individual members of a microboard need to draw upon their collective creativity to think "outside the box" and work together to develop the supports needed for a fully inclusive and productive life.  The Tennessee Microboards Association provides help to individual microboards in planning services and supports through PATH; Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope.

Our Services

Individual microboard members also need to know the steps involved in becoming a provider of services to people with disabilities in Tennessee and how to comply with the rules and regulations that come with the financial resources of the individual with a disability.  The Tennessee Microboards Association currently provides help in these important areas:

  • Public policy review and advocacy

  • How to incorporate a non-profit organization

  • Microboard board member training and development

  • How to become a certified and licensed provider of services and supports

  • Leadership development

  • PATH planning

  • Quality assurance preparation

  • Discounted insurance benefits

  • Required and advanced training for board members and staff hired by an individual microboard
